Domain names

You’ve have made the decision that a webpage is what you need and now you are confronted with having to choose your domain name. Always get the domain name that matches your company name and then a domain name that matches the product or service you provide.

The two domain names can be run as one using what we call an alias. In fact you can run many domain names all pointing to the one.

Here’s an example. The main website is but there is another website also owned by the same company called and yet another called That’s three websites all pointing back to the one.

Yes thats’s one of ours….

That’s one hosting account – and that works out far cheaper. In this example we have used and that domain name is a “product” that is offered by Quick Solve Computers so what we have is a domain name that matches our company name and another that matches one of the “products” that we do.

Just like It’s also a product or service that we provide. Bet you didn’t know you could do that !

One more thing and this is important…. When it comes to choosing a domain name should it be or .com ? That question comes up a lot.

The short answer is this. .com is American or as some would consider it “world wide”. Where as is Australian. Try going to and you will notice it will bounce you back automatically to ( if you are located in Australia ) That’s because most good search engines will give you results that are as relevant as they can get them to your location.

There’s no point in them giving you a link to a plumber somewhere in America if you are located in Brisbane Australia and so on. So watch out for that name. .com will generally refer to someone in the U.S.A

If you have a local business and want local customers, best work with a local domain name.

What if you have a “global” product or service? Easy just get both
